You don’t have to be fit to start.

Most people don’t believe me when I tell them that I have to work for it. I didn’t come like this 🤷🏼‍♀️ {scroll to the last pictures 😮}

This is my wedding dress from 26 years ago 😳 and celebrating our anniversary yesterday made me think about it. 

Lots of people make it a goal to make sure the dress still fits years later.

I was the opposite. I just didn’t know it at the time 🙃 

I’ve had to work for my health and fitness. One day I woke up and realized I wasn’t healthy. So I decided instead to be healthy ❤️

Thankfully I didn’t wait until I was “ready”. I didn’t wait until I was fit before I started.

It wasn’t easy. Starting is hard BUT OH SO WORTH IT 🤩

My hope is for anyone feeling like they don’t know where to start that you discover it is never too late. It will take some effort and consistency - but you are worth it {and there are people 🤔 who can help 🤗}

I know it can be overwhelming. I know it can be scary. That’s why I am so passionate about everything I do but mostly hoping to help anyone who needs it find the courage to start ♥️

Because everyone should have their “wiggle-out-of-their-wedding-dress” 26 years later moment 😉

There are two parts of the brain 🧠 that we want to focus on:
•
1)the AMYGDALA - our emotional center - it is very normal for this part of the brain to become more active in times of chronic stress, anxiety, etc.
•
2)the PREFRONTAL CORTEX - this is what makes humans UNIQUE.
This allows us to BUILD, to THINK, to PLAN.
•
So when something like 2020 hits - less human connection, more uncertainty, more fear - the amygdala literally becomes this LOOMING BEAST in the background which causes the prefrontal cortex not to work as well, thus feeding the beast - do you see the continuous loop?😖
•
We have to CHOOSE to engage those executive functions in our brain that make us unique.
•
But it’s CHALLENGING to see a way out.
Sometimes you need to OUTSOURCE  THAT THINKING to a coach. They can help you think through these very reactive, stressful scenarios, and help PLAN and ORGANIZE your way out.

    Ash is our early morning, late night, set up classes and zoom, take it down, keep the plants alive, help with all the “and-then-somes”, kids camp assistant, steps-in-wherever-she’s-needed right hand girl.

    And what you don’t know is that in between work, school and everyday life 🤪, she’s been quietly studying for her ACE Group Training Cert.
    •
    And on Saturday she PASSED!🥳
    •
    Which means we can add group instructor to her role at The Energy Lab and we couldn’t be more excited! 🤩

    She’s got a love for fitness, for health, and for lifting weights - so we have a feeling we’ve got some strength training classes in her future 💪

    TRX is in The Energy Lab’s DNA 🧬

    Back when we first opened, we struggled to find someone to make the A frame that they hang from - they thought we were crazy 🤪 and had no idea what a TRX was.
    •
    Flash forward nearly 10 years and they are still an integral part of our training and group classes😎
    •
    When we had to move classes outside, we had to shift away from using TRX because we had no way to utilize them outside - UNTIL TODAY!🤩
    •
    Thanks to Sean, we’ve got mounts on our back wall to bring back a classic AND keep you safe💪
    •
